Use Google Alerts To Help You Online

If you haven't heard of Google Alerts then I really think you are missing out. You can set up Google Alerts for news, websites and keywords . And when you have an alert you will be notified my email. This is such an awesome Free tool that most don't know about.  You can sign in using your Gmail account. If you don't have a Gmail account then you will have to confirm your alerts before they will arrive in your inbox. This helps prevent spam.  I use Google Alerts for keeping an eye on all of my sites, but I also use it to stay updated about certain topics that are related to my sites. You can have up to 1000 alerts but only 10 unverified alerts at any given time.

Here is how to setup your own Google Alerts:

1. Enter the Search Term you are inquiring about

2. Select what Type of Alerts you want – Everything which includes News, Blogs, Videos or Discussion or you can select individually what you type of alert you want to receive.

3. How Often – Choose when you want to receive the alerts – as-it-happens, daily or weekly

4. Email Length – You can select up to 20 or up to 50 emails

5. Deliver To – You can have your alerts sent to either your email address or you can have it delivered as a RSS to your reader

Do You Use Google Connect On Your Blog?

If you don't you should! –

This morning I was checking my email and received an email from Google Connect letting me know that someone had joined my blog. And to be honest with you all I have really done with Google Friend Connect (GFC) is put the widget on my blog. I haven't played around with it too much until today. I was really surprised to find out all the feature that you have with GFC. You will need a Google/Gmail Account to sign in to this service….

Add The Member Gadget allows you to make it easy for others to join your site and allows you to connect with your readers.

Browse The Gadgets Gallery – check out all the different gadgets you can use for your site

Gather Users' Interests – Find out what you readers interests are by having them complete a poll. Use this info for either new posts on your blog or newsletter topics

Send A Newsletter – This is a great FREE feature that most pay for. Get the gadget that will allow your readers to sign up for your newsletter.

Enhance Your Ads – You can manage Adsense Ads on your blog. Make sure to change the colors so that it matches your site

Review Community Data – Check out stats for your readership, it shows when people join your site. A handy little tool I think.

I think was excited me the most about the features is that you can build a list for FREE with these tools. Make sure to check this out and see if this is something you can use. I can't believe I was about to pay for services that I didn't need to buy.

You can also use these WordPress Plugins to add Google Friend Connect widgets to your blog:

Why Having A Google Account Is Important

Having a Google Account can be a very important thing if you are a blogger. They provide free services that are not only useful, but helpful. Here are the Google services I suggest signing up for. You will need to sign up for a gmail account in order to sign up for the other services.

Gmail – This a Free Online email account that you can use to sign in to different services. Gmail Accounts can also be customized to your needs too.

Reader – Sign up for this service and you can subscribe to sites using their RSS fee.

Feedburner – You can use this service to burn your RSS feed for your site. Which means that it will broadcast your feed to your site.

Blogger – This is Google's Free Blog Service. You can use Adsense to make money with your Blogger Blog and it is easy to integrate.

Analytics – This service allows you to track stats for websites, blog and other applications.

Adsense – This is Google's Ad Service. Basically you can put the Google Ads on your site and when someone clicks on the link you get paid.

Adwords – This is a different type of Google's Ad Services. You pay for clicks on keywords.

YouTube – I am sure you have heard of YouTube. Signing up for you own YouTube Channel is a great way to promote yourself. (Stay tuned I will share some secrets with you)

I really hope that you take a look at these services that Google provides. These can help you more than you think and for free! I really suggest it!
