My Favorite Social Sites

Where do you hang out online?

My favorite places to hangout online and network with other like minds would have to be:

Twitter – I love Twitter! This is fast and easy way to communicate with others and find valuable information. I love being able to share what others have to say with my followers.

Follow Me On Twitter

Facebook – I originally started out on Facebook to reconnect with old highschool friends and people I have met over the years. Recently, I have been meeting a ton of wonderful people to network and offer my services to.

Be My Friend On Facebook

LinkedIn – This is more of a professional social site. This is a great site to help you find potential customers and network with others in your industry.

Connect With Me On LinkedIn

YouTube – Most people I meet don't realize that YouTube is a social site. You do not have to make videos in order to interact with others on the site. You can add other people's videos to your channel that are in the same niche as you.

Find Me On YouTube

I would love to hear where you all hangout online, so leave a comment below to share your favorite online hangouts.

Pay With A Tweet – What?

I was really amazed when I came across a site today that wanted me to pay with a Tweet in order to download their free ebook. This got me curious and so I went to check out the site that allows this service.

It's called PayWithATweet.com – You can offer your clients and readers a free offer and in order for them to receive it they need to tweet about it to get the download link. This is a great way to get traffic to your site!!

Send Your Blog Posts To Twitter Automatically

As most of you know that I have been doing the 30 Day Blog Challenge Hosted By Jeanette Cates. Since I have been posting on a daily basis I had a routine down. I would post on my blog and then post on Twitter my blog post and link to @jeanettecates. And I am so upset to see that my scheduled posts have not been going out like I scheduled.

So this got me to thinking and I realized that I had not set up my blog to post to Twitter automatically. At least this would have gotten each of my posts this past week out to all of my followers. Well I did it now. So hopefully, this won't happend again. Gosh this really frustrated me!

So I suggest setting your blog up to post automatically to your Twitter account using TwitterFeed to do this wonderful task. What TwitterFeed does is, it updates both Twitter and Facebook with your blog posts feed. I chose this option because it was really simple to setup and it has tracking to see whats happening with the traffic for each blog post.

Setup TwitterFeed Here

An alternative to my above suggestion is to use the Twitter Tools Plug-in that is found on the WordPress.org website. The TwitterTools Plug-in has a lot of great features and provide complete integration between your WordPress Blog and your Twitter Account.

How I Use Twitter To Get Followers

Today I wanted to explain how I get followers. I really believe from expereince that gaining followers organically is the best way to go. I want to be able to connect to my followers and build a relationship with them. So I am going to give you a huge list of Twitter Directories and you can find people who have the same interest as you plus I really recommend adding your profile to each of them, so others can find you as well.

Twitter Passion – Twitter Link Directory & Twitter Info

Twitter Groups – Business Directory & Twitter User Groups

Media On Twitter – Find your favorite media contacts.

Just Tweet It – Find other Twitter users just like you!

Twibs – Find Businesses on Twitter.

wefollow – You can find people to follow by category

Twellow – The Twitter Yellow Pages

Tweet Find – Twitter Directory of Businesses and Users

geofollow – Location Based Twitter Directory

Now you might come across automated services that will get you a ton of followers. I have tried a couple of them and yes I did get followers but they were not my targeted market and a ton of porn with links containing viruses. So as a word of advice – take your time and build a good solid following. Remember not to go on a following spree either, Twitter doesn't like that!

So what I like to do is find people who have the same interest as me or if i can offer them help with any of the services I provide. When I come across a blog or website and I like the information that person is providing, I usually look around for a Follow Me On Twitter button and I follow that person. Sometimes when I am on someone's page I check out who they are following and who is following them. I have found some really great people on Twitter by doing this.

Customize Your Twitter Page for FREE

So let's go over the ways that you can customize your Twitter page for free.

1.  Get a Free Background – Here is a list of sites that have some really great Twitter Backgrounds.

Free Twitter Designer

Cute Twitter Backgrounds

TwitPaper

Free Twit Layouts

Free & Custom Twitter Backgrounds

Twitter-Backgrounds.org

Free Twitter Backgrounds

TwitRounds – Free Twitter Backgrounds

Twitter-Images

TwitterBackgrounds.net

Twitter Profile Backgrounds

Twitter Patted

Twitter Treats

2.  Make your Own Twitter Background from scratch:

Before you start you will need an image editor.

Paint.net – I use this for making quick changes or adding text to an image.

Aviary – This is an amazing tool for Free. Check out all the features – Image Editor, Color Editor, Effects Editor, Vector Editor, Image Markup, Screen Capture (Firefox Plugin) and Audio Editor.

Gimp – This is a powerful free Image Manipulation Tool.

Now you need to know the demensions of your page. In order for your page to fit you need to make the background image a 1680×1200 pixel image. Remember that your Tweets and Profile Info will take up about 765px in the middle of the page which leaves about 200px or so on each side to do with you want.

Here is an example of what I am talking about

Here is my new profile after playing around with it on Paint.net

I think I did pretty good for my first time. Now I want to play around with it a little more. And I will be sure to let you know how it goes.

Now that you have your background that you want to have for your Twitter Page you need to upload it to your page

Here's how:

Login to your Twitter Account Click Settings Click Design Click Change Background Image Click Browse and find your Image you want to upload Click Save Changes
